Erdogan does not want problems with the TAF

The talk show is a continuing marathon of the prime minister. Even though almost every time the same questions are being asked, different answers are given from time to time. One of them drew my attention the most was that what's Recep Tayyip Erdogan said about the military. When I gather them all together, an extremely interesting picture comes out.

You will remember that the Justice and Development Party, or AKP, especially in the 2007 elections and during the referendum, gained significant votes by explaining to the public that it was a victim of the Turkish Armed Forces, or TSK. And in the Ergenekon and the "Sledgehammer" (Sledgehammer) cases, which came right after, even though they were judicial matters, the bill was on the name of the government. Their most tense point reached TSK-Erdogan relations.
When we take a look now, there is a significant softening in These relations.

There are three Developments that draw my attention:

- Contrary to what the Republican People's Party, or CHP, wants, he does not want to be disconnected with the General Staff of the Prime Ministry at this stage and connected to the Defense Ministry. He said, now is not the time. He openly shows he knows how sensitive this subject is from the point of view of the TSK.

- He said the April 27 statement, the one that then-Chief of Staff Gen. Yasar Buyukanit said, he himself wrote and what the media named as the warning memorandum, should be seen as a warning note.

- Finally, in his CNNTurk interview, he made a series of Praises for the Chief of Staff Gen. Light Kosaner and said the relations were now in harmony.

I take care of it in this discourse.

The prime minister is extremely time will he win the elections again, but he does not want to irritate the military. Especially in the coming period, we will see much clearer signs of this approach.

'Our boys did it'

One question asked by the prosecutors to Tahsin Şahinkaya, one of the leaders of the coup Feb. 12, surprised me a lot.

The prosecutor said, "You visited Washington before the coup. Was this visit to get the authorization from the United States? "And Şahinkaya answered," No relation. I went there for a completely different reason and then returned. "

This trip has always been a topic of speculation in Washington.

But both the question and the response given are wrong.

Before anything else, Commanders of that period would not go to Washington on the last day for permission. They would not knock on the door of the Pentagon and ask for authorization. These were things Discussed changes starting from much earlier Corridors to NATO meetings in various conversations.

I remember very well, at that period, during the NATO meetings, the American, British or German Defense Ministers and chiefs of general staff Commanders and Kenan Evren, the Turkish would ask, "What is happening in Turkey, when will this chaos end?"

The universe, in turn, would tell us These complaints.

What I am trying to say is that:

These things do not happen Friendships based on neighborhood. It was dealt with by much more subtle messages.

Remember, Paul Henze, who broke the news of Oct. 12 coup to President Carter, told me he had openly said in the president's ear, "Our boys did it."

In this case, is there a need for Şahinkaya to go to the Pentagon and ask for reauthorization by saying, "We will take over the government tomorrow"?

Ministry of the EU is a significant sign

Many were astonished.

The topic of the European Union was now off our agenda.

There was no interest left in Ankara and in Brussels. Moreover, this situation was good for everyone. During election campaigns, nobody Discussed the topic Europe. The AKP had the impression that it was a Widespread Europe closed the file.

Turkey-EU relations were dead, and nobody was there to lift the Casket.

The prime minister surprised everyone.

He explained how the EU relations upgraded Bagis's position, and that it could not continue anymore and was being a General Directorate to be upgraded to Ministerial level. If Erdogan had given up on the EU, he would not have formed during a time when a new ministry was being decreased number of Ministries.

Very well, what does that mean?

The most probably scenario is that completes all its reforms by Turkey after 2013 for harmonization with the EU, will she turn to the EU and say, "Here, we are ready. If you want, take us. If you do not want, say so. So that we can continue on our own way ... "

We have to take this development very seriously.
